Rotational Dam
Rotational Dam...the newest innovation

Scientech: Rotational DamThe newest innovation in nozzle dams by Scientech (formerly AEP Nozzle Dams) is the culmination of 25 years of nozzle dam design experience. In conjunction with an NSSS supplier, Scientech designed the steam generator nozzle attachment. This nozzle attachment allowed Scientech to design our new light weight, small and rapidly installed nozzle dam.

  1. Light weight, billet machined structure
  2. Automatic Rotational lock
  3. High strength, fiber reinforced air hoses
  4. Low Profile attachment geometry in nozzle
Digital Control System
Easy on-screen seal activation

Scientech: Nozzle Dam Support ConsoleThe Nozzle Dam Support Console is a computer supported pneumatic control system for any steam generator nozzle dam that utilizes inflatable seals. This system provides easy on-screen seal activation as well as monitoring of pressure and flow. The real-time, digitally displayed pressure gauges and flow indicators provide instant recognition of the system status. Problem events activate both visual and audible alarms, instantly prompting on-screen corrective action procedures to minimize fault reaction time.

This system is portable, easily maintained and upgradable. As an option, the system can be remotely monitored to add an extra level of convenience. Benefits include:

  • Easy activation and on-screen operating procedure
  • Digital, real-time display and monitoring of pressure and flow
  • Logical arrangement of pneumatic controls
  • Portable, rugged design and construction
  • Easily maintained and upgradable
  • Visual and audible alarm system
  • On-screen "corrective action" procedures
  • Optional remote monitoring

Instant Disengage and Extraction
Innovative bolting solutions

Scientech: Nozzledam BoltsVarious styles of nozzle dams are supported by a hold down ring that is welded concentric to the inlet and outlet nozzles of a steam generator. The nozzle dams utilize threaded holes in the hold down ring as attachment points. The threading of standard bolts into these holes is time and dose consuming.

Scientech (formerly AEP) is pleased to offer the Quick Bolt as an option to a basic nozzle dam bolt. The Quick Bolt is a high strength, stainless steel, segmented bolt that "collapses" into a mating bolt hole in the hold down ring.

  1. Button disengages lock for instant extraction
  2. Body facets align for visual indication of "locked" installation
  3. High strength stainless steel thread segments

Pushing and turning the head of the bolt engages the bolt's threads into the threads of a mating hole, automatically locking the mechanism into place which is verifiable by means of a visual indicator. The Quick Bolt offers a rapid gall free installation and removal.

Automated Manway Stud Hole Cleaning System
An efficient method of brushing debris

Scientech: Stud Hole CleaningThe Manway Cover The Automated Manway Stud Hole Cleaner provides an efficient method of brushing the debris from the threaded stud holes while reducing personnel exposure and air-born contaminants.

Easily installed and operated, this device advances two, rotating brushes into opposing threaded holes while injecting air through the brush heads, forcing the debris out through a vacuum system. The technician has the ability to repeat the action for the same holes or index the mechanism to the next set of holes.

The "Quick-Change" feature of the brush motor units facilitates replacing worn brushes without removing the index carrier from the manway.

SG Stud Tensioner Reaction Nut Runner
Steam Generator Stud Tensioner Reaction Nut Runner

A very cost-effective means of a reducing platform time and man-rem exposure when removing and/or installing steam generator primary manway covers. Requires no modification to existing equipment.

Primary Manway Insert Installation Roller Set
Facilitates the radial alignment of the Primary Manway

Scientech: Bowl Drain PlugThe Primary Manway Insert Installation Roller Set facilitates the radial alignment of the Primary Manway Insert mounting screws thereby reducing insert installation and removal times.

  1. Knurled knob for easy gripping
  2. Delrin bearing roller
  3. Delrin capture disc
  4. 303 Stainless Steel undersized threaded body with lead-in
  • Cost effective
  • Reduced Installation and removal times
  • Implementation of the ALARA principle
  • Accurate alignment of mounting screws (precluding cross threading)
  • Insert is captured and fully supported between rollers
  • Simple rotation of insert will align mounting holes
  • Reduced back injuries
Panoramic Radiography Source Deployment Device
Remotely Installed

Inspection of the pressure boundary type of nozzle to pipe, welded joint usually requires 50 hours of conventional radiography techniques and "X" REM of personnel exposure. This remotely installed, panoramic inspection is completed within four hours with only one tenth "X" REM of personnel exposure.

Dramatically reduces task time and personnel REM exposure
